A Study on the Development of Content Based on Virtual Reality for Early Childhood Education Teachers

Abstract

The development of educational technology media in academic settings has led to the emergence of new forms of teaching. Education utilizing virtual reality content is widely employed as an effective EdTech medium that promotes active learning among students. It is crucial to improve societal perceptions of VR-based education and to establish strategies for securing users, not only to build a digital environment for early childhood education but also to invigorate the VR content industry. Therefore, this study aims to design and develop VR content that supports early childhood educators in enhancing their digital competencies through VR media. To achieve this, interviews were conducted with early childhood educators and VR-related experts to investigate the requirements for VR content. Based on the analysis of previous research and the results of the interviews, VR content was designed, modified, and developed. This study presents a prototype for creating VR content applicable in early childhood education settings. It aims to contribute to the establishment of a foundation for teacher training programs that promote diverse teaching and learning activities utilizing immersive new technologies such as VR and XR.
